The “Shugster”

Well, what is there to say about me…..hmmmm……

I’m 36, married and living in Sunny Sandy-Eggo!  I am going to school full-time to get my master’s degree (and license) in Acupuncture & Herbology.

I plan on working here in San Diego as well as with a non-profit organization to hold health fairs on the Native American reservations here in San Diego (and hopefully throughout the US in the future).  I am half Native American and so I feel a call to help this ethnic group in particular to bring them back into a state of health & happiness!

My hobbies include dancing the Argentine Tango (which I do with my awesome hubby!),

walking/hiking with my 2 wonderful doggies Amelie & Archie,

photography and traveling (my favs are Israel, Alaska & Vancouver)

and of course doll collecting!

I got into Fashion Royalty dolls in 2006 and was in heaven!  I had no idea dolls could look so beautiful!  From FR I began to look at Integrity’s other lines of dolls.  Dynamite Girls were next for me!  They were so cute & I love their mod look!  Then in summer 2008 I began fall in love with the Gene doll line.  Personally I love retro clothing, so I was drawn to them because of that, but didn’t think I’d like a large 16″ doll!  LOL  If I had only know then!  I ordered Color Deal Madra & that was it for me!   And now I’m loving the AvantGuards line and I’ve fallen head over heels for the adorable Poppy Parker!  And now I am officially a Misaki collector too, LOL.  I guess that means I like all of Integrity’s lines!

Hi 🙂 I just wanted to say how much I enjoy and appreciate your weblog!! I’m a Gene collector living in Melbourne, Australia and your weblog’s been a real insight! I’m especially impressed with your coverage of the 2008 Gene convention. Being so far away from the convention, I really appreciate your efforts to provide those of us who can’t be part of the fun with a peek at what goes on. Great stuff! Thanks! Elise (Melbourne, Australia)

This is a whole new side of you that I am getting to know and I love it!!!
Hello… the picture of you and your hubby doing the tango, HOT! 😉
Thanks for inviting me in to this part of who you are!
Have a blast at the convention!

First off I have to thank you for your webblog.

I stumbled upon it right before you went to this year’s FR Convention.

    It’s pretty incredible, kudos!

My FR collection is probably meager in comparison to collectors that have been doing this awhile. Although I’ve put a pretty penny into it, as you probably well know.

I gave myself a Christmas present this year and joined the Wu Club.

You all got such great opportunities last year, I’m hoping the same can be said for this year’s offerings.

I did put you down as my reference so you’ll at least be put in the drawing once. Hopefully there are others out there like me that were inspired by your webblog and put you down as their reference as well.

Happy New Year and Thanks again!

The perfect Christmas present to yourself! I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog! Looking forward to seeing you in the Wclub boards this year! You’ll enjoy everyone and getting all the “insider” information! And good luck in the lotteries!

  5. Jeff Winn says:

Are you interested in the Nadja?

I’m not, but if you want me to put my name in the raffle, let me know.

  6. Nicole says:

I hope I get to know you a little more, I seen some of your pictures on pink parlor. Keep up the good work and I hope many blessing come your way in the field you are preparing to do great things in.

  7. shugashug says:

Thanks so much! I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog – it’s probably as much fun for me to write it as it is for you to read it! LOL Remember to check back after the 21st to see the 2009 lines of dolls!

  8. Nicole says:

I will be here! I hope I have enough money saved!!

  9. karen says:

someone gave me a goldmine. she is stunning but has no paperwork. please…….. how do i change her hands and feet without breaking the threaded shaft?

  10. shugashug says:

Just pull them out straight & she’ll be fine! I change mine all the time & they’re sturdy.

  11. Jurrie says:

Hi Shug, how sweet of you to put my ICOG calendar photos on your site to download, I didn’t even know about that. I came on your site by coincidence and saw my name, LOL! Nice to rea your site! Thanks, and see you on the boards, greetings, Jurrie.

  12. frjunkie81 says:

Wow! your blog is so amazing and informative! keep us all up to date on Convention! We will all be waiting to hear from all the tidbits from it! Very nice website you have! Not only do u have an amazing collection but your photography is mesmerizing, and redressing is so much fun the way you do it!

Thanks for sharing a little of your world with us!

    Sincerely, FRJunkie81!

  13. shugashug says:

Thanks so much! It’s fun for me to redress, photograph and share with everyone! And yes! I’ll keep everyone updated ASAP throughout the convention this year!!

  14. Queli says:

Great blog, love it, you always so many interesting things to say and the photos are fabulous!

  15. JenfromVT says:

I am a new collector 2 months into it new! I tripped over these dolls and am addicted. The timing of this “trip” worked out since my birthday is this month, so I will be receiving a few of them with cake!

I enjoy your blog and photos. SO much fun! I can’t wait to start “dressing up” the ones I get and take some photos as well.

I appreciate you keeping the site uptodate with the IFDC going on, and may I just say congratulations on your winnings, how very exciting for you. I’m glad you had a fantastic time.

I will not be able to make the Jason Wu convention this year in October due to a conflict in my schedule. I have heard the buzz that numbers of dolls will be even more limited and some that I’m interested in like Yuri, Kumi, and Lillith will be present. Do you have any idea what that will mean for the dealers that I am currently purchasing these dolls from? Will there be any dolls left after the convention, or will they be sold out?

I thought I’d ask you since you seem to have a grasp on this and may have a better idea for us buyers!

Thanks in advance! And keep up the wonderful site!

  16. shugashug says:

Unfortunately if there are extras they are sold by lottery through the WClub. Dealers won’t receive them. Some dealers attend the convention and will sell their on their website, but it won’t be alot of them.

  17. JenfromVT says:

Well thanks for letting me know, I can always turn to ebay I suppose…..
Oh by the way I love your comments on Agnes and her photos, she’s fantastic! I adore the new doll cothes from the convention, the style of them, I’m a big fan of Mad Men thanks for sharing!

have a great time on your cruise! i look forward to keeping up with all your new posts!

  30. shugashug says:

Thanks Jen! It’s been fun hanging out and talking dolls. Looking forward to IFDC with you too!

  31. Andrea says:

    Hi Shugashug!
I hope you can help me… do you know if Poppy Parker fashions fit monogram bodys.
Thank you a lot for your help:-))

  32. shugashug says:

    Hi Andrea!

The Poppy fashion will fit the bust/waist of the monograms. The main problem could be in the length of pants, skirts or dresses. The Monogram is much taller than Poppy, so a Poppy fashion pair of pants on the Monogram will be short. Hope that helps!

  33. Nancy Breen says:

    Hello Shug-A!!!!

You are tops! I trust your opinion and your graciousness is overwhelming….especially when compared to the narcissism of others! And compared with you!

Thanks for all you’ve done and for sharing it with us.

You often made me change my mine concerning some dolls !
Would you do me the great favor to allow me to display some of them on the FR french forum board that I created, given you credits for the pictures and the link to your blog of course?

  49. ElleX says:

Correction: I found your blog via Google…I was searching for diorama using the Gene Marshall corkscrew alley.

  50. shugashug says:
